It does irk me that several of the major expeditions has thrust resistance mobs, which is a triple whammy on bow/musket given you already have only single target damage and no utility. But if i am racking 6k and 7k headshots regularly and critting a lot (keen, keen awareness, dex and int bonuses to crit and crit and crit damage) i feel like i am doing good damage. Hard to say without a dps meter what the actual difference is. I never had the impression that i was doing less damage than melee, and on occassion when melee has to run out or is unable to get at the boss, i am able to sustain dps. I may use the musket on bosses like Neishatan or Isabella, and even then will interweave sunder with the melee weapon. The issue is that there are circumstances where i believe it is viable to swap to the musket. There is no circumstance where i use musket only.
Why does eveyone assume that the musket is being used on trash? I use the melee weapon on trash, that should be self evident. All gemmed appropriately for the dungeon.

My advice is simple, if you see a person obsessing over what is optimal and telling others how to play rather than what is fun, remove that person and avoid them at all costs, they are the worst kinds of people to be around in an mmorpg.Īs posted above … my primary builds are musket/spear, musket/rapier, and musket/hatchet. You dont need bis or optimal set ups, you get a few decent people and you can clear with fun builds the vast majority of high end mmorpg content because what you often lose from not being optimal, you get from gear which by design outscales the encounter otherwise only a tiny minority would ever clear high end group content. That is the problem with most elitist metaslaves, they have unironically inflated the achievement of clearing dungeons as something important and “elite” while in reality it is a scripted encounter with predictable mechanics most people can do given enough time and a group, it isnt somekind of irl achievement, it is a VIDEO GAME. OH NO, 15% LESS DPS? THAT MEANS ITS IMPOSSIBRU TO BEAT D: Pretending being competitive is required to do a scripted encounter is the most ridiculous metaslave mentality. Pretending you can be competitive with it in Genesis is not ok. It’s fine to like musket and insist on playing.
